Bond 50 Bluray Trailers

Casino RoyaleCasino Royale was the first James Bond title to appear on the High Definition Bluray format in 2007. In 2008, a few more "back catalog" James Bond titles began to appear on Bluray, some titles like Dr. NoDr. No, From Russia With LoveFrom Russia With Love and ThunderballThunderball were available individually, while others like Licence To KillLicence To Kill and MoonrakerMoonraker were only available in mini three title box sets that were quite hard to find and seemed to be available in very limited quantities. Then in 2009, with 13 of the 22 official EON titles available on Bluray, new titles just stopped appearing. I had picked up all 11 of these attractive Gold boxes, plus Casino RoyaleCasino Royale and Quantum of SolaceQuantum of Solace and was anxiously waiting to complete my set, but no more 007 titles would be released for 3 more years!

Why did they suddenly stop? The sale of 007's longtime, debt-hobbled studio, MGM; which went up for auction in November 2009 and which by August 2010 still hadn't found a buyer. According to Wikipedia, as of mid-2009, MGM had been in debt to the sum of US$3.7 billion, and interest payments alone totaled $250 million a year. MGM Holdings, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and 160 affiliates filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on November 3, 2010, which led to MGM's creditors taking over the company.

Fortunately, by 2012 the crisis had passed, SkyfallSkyfall quickly became the most successful James Bond film of all time, and The Bond film franchise was able to celebrate it's 50th anniversary in style, including a fancy new box set, which I decided not to buy since I already had 13 of the titles in it! I was finally able to complete my set a year or two later when the titles finally became available individually, though of course the boxes don't all match, and my 'Bond on Bluray' collection probably takes up a more space on the shelf than this box set would have.

Anyway, here are a few of the official trailers for the 2012 Bluray box set. The first has a great movie montage.

The second, is more about the attractive box the films come in...

A third trailer, with another great movie montage:
